The Tekeze Atbara Sub-basin experiences rainfall in its upper part only in little amounts mainly in the months of July and august, and is relatively dry the other part of the year. The lower part of the Sub-basin lies in Sudan and is mainly dry with very few rainfall amounts recorded in the wet season.
